Undergraduate students from the Department of Ceramic Engineering, Gyeongsang National University (Jung Ho Park, Joo Hyun Park, Min Seo Jang)
This is a student-led program of the Semiconductor Characterization University Project, which aims to develop competencies by visiting Silicon Valley and contacting advanced research institutes and laboratories overseas, conducting related experiments, and meeting with semiconductor industry workers.
During this visit, we had a meeting with Dr. Jihyun Lee, Director of the ETRI Americas Technology Diffusion Center, who was able to answer the students' questions and provide helpful advice.
We would like to thank Ms. Jihyun Lee, Director of the ETRI Americas Technology Diffusion Center, for her time.

반도체 특성화 대학 사업단의 학생주도형 프로그램으로 실리콘밸리를 방문하여 해외의 선진 연구기관이나 실험실과 컨택하여 관련 실험 실습 또는 반도체 산업 종사자 분들과의 면담을 통해 역량을 기르는것을 목표로 하고 있음.
이번 방문시에 ETRI 미주 기술 확산 센터 센터장님이신 이지현 센터장님과 미팅을 하여 학생들의 궁금하게 여기는 부분에 대해 이야기를 하며, 도움이 되는 시간을 가질수 있어 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈습니다.

They shared their thoughts on interning in Silicon Valley, their questions about Silicon Valley, and networking.

The Korea-America AI Semiconductor Innovation Center (K-ASIC) regularly hosts "Tech & Toast" events where industry experts gather to share the latest technology trends and promote collaboration. Leaders in each field discuss the latest technologies and market prospects and network together.

4. 2024 Next Generation Lithography + Patterning Conference, August 12-13, 2024
2024년 8월12일-13일 한국 수원 Convention Center에서 진행된 2024 Litho + Patterning 학술회의에 참석하여 8월13일에 진행된 Key Note Session에 참가하여 "Navigation the road to Silicon Valley" topic으로 자리를 같이 하였습니다.
Abstract: Embarking on a career journey towards Silicon Valley is like setting off on an adventure into the heart of innovation and opportunity. In this keynote, we'll break down what Silicon Valley is all about, focusing on its semiconductor industry and the exciting world of artificial intelligence. We'll cover everything from the history and main players to the unique culture that sets this place apart. We'll dive into the corporate world of semiconductor giants and explore the various career paths available, whether it's sales, marketing, engineering, or something else. And we'll stress the importance of networking, showing how making connections can really boost your career prospects. Drawing on my own experiences over the past twenty-eight years, working at companies like SVG, ASML, Therma-Wave, Integrated Materials, and KLA, we'll look at how I got to Silicon Valley and what I learned along the way. We'll talk about key moments like company acquisitions and moving internationally, and I'll share some tips for navigating these challenges. But here's the thing: there's no magic formula for success in Silicon Valley. It takes hard work and planning. So, I'll encourage you to start thinking about your future now – not just in vague terms, but with specific goals for where you want to be in one year, two years, five years, and beyond. And remember, networking is key – both in Silicon Valley and wherever else your career may take you. 5. Korea AI & System IC Innovation Center (한미 AI 반도체 혁신 센터) - Opening Ceremony. September 5, 2024
9월5일 (목)에 '한미 AI 반도체 혁신 센터' Opening ceremonty를 가졌습니다. 추진배경은 국내 시스템 반도체 기업의 미국 진출 지원를 위한 센터 설립 홍보와 국내 반도체 기업과 현지 전문가와의 교류 및 협력 기회 마련을 위한것으로 산업부, 산기평, KSIA 한국 반도체산업협화 와 COSAR 한국반도체연구조합의 추진을 설립되었습니다. 50분이상의 관련분야에서 참석을 해주셨고 축하해주셨습니다.
앞으로 많은 관심을 가져주시기 바라고 저희 KASASV 와도 긴밀한 관계를 가지며 서로에게 도움이 될 수 있는 부분을 찾고 노력할 계획입니다.

12월7일부터 11일까지 IEDM(International Electron Device Meeting) 2024 행사가 샌프란에서 있는데 여기에 참가하는국제 아카데미 반도체관련 학생, 성균관대 단장 및 교수님들과 저희 KASASV에서 가능한 회원들과 산학교류회을 가지려고 합니다 (실리콘밸리에 계신분들에게만 공지을 드립니다).
12월9일(월) 에 한국에서 오신 학생들 40명, 교수진 9명 (김선구, 채희엽, 박진홍, 김형섭, 최병덕, 공정택, 홍석인, 강태욱, 전종옥 교수), 특강 4분이 참석을 하시고, 저희쪽에서는 7분이 참석을 하셨습니다.

지난 10월2일 SPIE BOCUS 학회차 Monterey, Ca에 오신 N.G.L. Korea 학회의 Chair를 맡고 계신 조선대학교 박종락 교수님을 뵙고, 향후 KASASV와의 협업 관계를 비롯해서 2024년에 있을 학회 계획및 강좌에 서로 도움이 될수있는 방안에 대해 지속적으로 협의를 하도록 발전적인 대화를 나눌수 있어 좋은 시간이었습니다. 구체적인 계획은 진행상황에 따라 update을 드리도록 하겠습니다.
지난 11월15일 KSIA/COSAR 한국 반도체 연구 조합에 계신 안기현 전무님과 신미정 실장님과 면담을 하였습니다. 한국 반도체 연구 조합의 실리콘 밸리에 있는 Fabless 관계자 방문차 오셨을때 만나뵙고 KASASV와의 협업 가능한 의견을 나누었으며, 앞으로 지속적인 협의를 통해 양쪽에 도움이 될 수 있는 부분에 대해 상의하여 가능한 일을 진행하는 방안을 찾기로 하였습니다. 구체적인 계획은 진행상황에 따라 update을 드리도록 하겠습니다.
2023년 12월27일에 실리콘밸리에 계신 여러 회원분들과 2023년이 가지전에 10월에 다시 시작한 저희 모임을 축하하고 2023년이 지나가는 아쉬움을 같이 하고자 골프모임을 Cinnabar Hills Golf Course에서 가졌습니다. 참석해주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다. 2024년 부터는 정기적인 모임을 몇가기 계획하고 있습니다. 구체적인 내용은 추후에 공지하도록 하겠습니다.
